NYSOA Political Action Committee

To effect favorable change, the profession of optometry must present a clear message and vision to public officials. This is why NYSOA-PAC was formed.

Our Mission

The primary purpose of NYSOA-PAC is to contribute to candidates and elected officials in New York State who have supported the goals and objectives of our profession. Your support has helped us build successful, long-lasting relationships with public officials and legislators who understand the value and importance of the care that optometrists provide to their constituents—our patients.

What is NYSOA-PAC?

NYSOA-PAC is a voluntary, nonprofit, unincorporated committee of optometrists, their families and others interested in the future of optometric care.

Separate from the New York State Optometric Association, the Committee is nonpartisan and is not affiliated with any political party. Therefore, it can—and does—support candidates and officials who support our goals, regardless of their party affiliation.

This effort requires constant nurturing to continue to effectively deliver our message and we need your support!

Help influence the future of optometry.

NYSOA-PAC is not an organization to donate to and forget about. It has become an effective voice within the halls of the legislative and executive branches of New York State Government. But, we need to maintain and strengthen that voice for our profession to be heard above the noise.

Every two years is the start of a new legislative cycle bringing with it new players and a renewed chance to effect change for optometry. If you haven’t contributed in the past, please do so today. If you have contributed before, please think about doing so again.

With your financial support, we can continue to encourage political candidates and officials to support optometry and to work with our profession to improve eye care in New York State.

Contributions or gifts to NYSOA-PAC are not tax-deductible for income tax purposes. New York State law requires NYSOA-PAC to collect and report the name, address, occupation and employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $100 in a calendar year. New York State law allows an individual to contribute up to a total of $150,000 in a calendar year and a corporation to contribute up to a total of $5,000 in a calendar year.
