About the New York State Optometric Association (NYSOA)
Since it's founding in 1895, the New York State Optometric Association has endeavored to enhance the vision care and health of the public and promote the art and science of optometry. Doctors of optometry take a leading role in patient care with respect to eye and vision care, as well as general health and well-being. As primary health care providers, doctors of optometry have extensive, ongoing training to examine, diagnose, treat and manage ocular disorders, diseases and injuries and systemic diseases that manifest in the eye.
The NYSOA is a formal affiliate of the American Optometric Association and a network of local optometric societies in each major city and region of New York State.
Our Mission:
Protect, advance, and advocate for the profession of optometry in the state of New York, as well as promote optometrists to the public as providers of primary eye care.
Our Vision:
To be the recognized leader and authority in eye and vision care in New York State.
